Data Science : The Fusion Reaction

These days plethora of new things are coming like: "Naya Pakistan", "Naya prime-minister","Naya Semester" and the list goes on...

but Let's just talk about this "new soil" science that is "Data Science"

Data Science is made up of two words: Data and Science. Data is a Latin word and a plural of  datum, meaning "thing" It is first used in English in 1640's (17th Century ). Science came from Latin too, it is derived from a Latin word "scientia" meaning knowledge. Then the old French said : "Hey, I don't like "scientia" let's call it "escience" or just forget about "e" in the beginning and say it:"science"". Then an English came and said :"I order you to take this word as "science" and no more debate on this !"

So that was how we got : data and science, two different words with different meanings. But how comes that these two terms fused together, like the fusion between Electricity and magnetism that results in electromagnetism.

Let's go deep in this story..

The Fusion Reaction Story

Back in almost 30 years, there were two planets, one is Data and the other was Science (they also exist today but just concentrate on the story), Data was living in the Galaxy named "Computia Way" and Science was the habitant of "Scientia way". 

One fine morning, both of the planets were on their routine revolution mission. Data was very happy because it is getting larger and larger day by day, Science was also glad because it was the 1000 th birthday of science.

But then at night when science was celebrating its birthday, there was a lot of noise in "Scientia way", the noise was also going to the neighboring "Computia way". Data heard the voice of party poppers, it was on his night revolution path, it was curious to see the birthday party, so it entered the Scientia way, just to see the birthday celebrations, 

Scientia way was a friendly and hospitable galaxy, when Science got the news that Data from Computia way came to see the celebrations. It became so happy, and offered some sweets and cake to data. Computia way was a bit boring galaxy only 1's and 0's were floating in there, data found Scientia way galaxy the more colorful and variant so it decided to become the habitant of this galaxy, After attending the birthday party, data went again to its own galaxy, and told the other planets about the colors and brightness of Scientia way. Each of the other planets also wanted to become the residents of Scientia way, so they asked the parent planets, 1 and 0 about this, they agreed but they wanted to retain their existence too in that galaxy, they didn't want to leave their culture, traditions, and their languages.

So Data went to its friend Science and told Science about the opinion of its Computia way galaxy, and put some demands regarding their galaxy's "fusion with existence", and data also put an agenda before science to sign in order to make collision galaxy by a fusion reaction like collision government, the salient features of the agreement 📝 were:

1. "Computia way" and "Scientia way" will make a single galaxy named: "Data Science".
2. The members of both the galaxies will work together for the betterment of the whole Data  Science galaxy.
3. From  today we are one but our names can be used separately as Data and Science, as per humans need.
4. Our Galaxy will be flexible in term of welcoming other planets in it.
5. Every planet made in result of the fusion reaction will observe their planetical rights, and their will be no discrimination in any sense.

Science took the agreement to other planets of "Scientia way" naming: Humans so they signed the agreement.

On the very next day of the year 1974 a book named Concise Survey of Computer Methods by Peter Naur came and he declared the term "Data Science" in that book, he said:

“The science of dealing with data, once they have been established, while the relation of the data to what they represent is delegated to other fields and sciences.”

In the result of the collision by fusion reaction other planets like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Clustering and Data mining etc came into being...

All the planets started living happily in the galaxy named: "Data Science".
